Everyday will get better. I keep reminding myself of that every minute of the day. I had no idea what to expect but WOW, this is more then I could have even imagined. Breath through it and know that it will only get better from here. Still can't believe that I have had all this happen, very surreal feeling.
I sleep alot, which is good for my healing process. I am just having some trouble figuring out what drugs work the best. The really good ones I can't take at home without medical supervision because they can cause neurological changes. When I was in ICU for a few days they check my nueros every hour confirming I wasn't having a reaction from the surgery or drugs. Although I always passed I still can't take them a home. So I am trying to figure out what works best and get into a pattern. In due time.
Well the pic is attached, please don't throw up! My brother mentioned it was about 6 inches, I think it is more like 10. That is the least of my worries, but was shocked when I saw the pic. I will have to figure out what to do with this hair now. I was planning to cut it prior to surgery but didn't get it done. I still have bandages covering everything, this was taken while they were changing them. I will get my stitches out on Monday. Well off to lala land.
Thank you all so much for your kinds words, thoughts and prayers. I couldn't have made it this far without each and everyone of you. Loves to you all!!!!
I also had to show you that I still threw some bling in the mix at the hospital.
Amy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your picture with us. You are such a strong and determined woman. Glad you are getting your pain meds figured out, that helps;-)
Loves,
Darci
Whoa, that scar is one helluva testament to your strength. I would proudly show that off, Amy. Seriously. You be proud of what you have been through and how far you have come. You are amazing, girl.... and you'll figure the hair out. You always rocked the cute short hair in college. Love you!
ReplyDeleteAmy,
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that everything went well and that you are home. Rest up and hope the healing process is uphill from here on out. Have been thinking about you.

ReplyDeleteLooks more like 14 inches to me, but that's totally from a man's perspective. Thanks for helping me become bulimic, that should help my diet! Also of all the huge stitched wounds I've ever seen, yours is by far the hottest!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy,
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you for sharing your story, I'm sure there are days that it is difficult. Look at your scar as a "battle scar" you fought the war and won!!!! Show it off proudly - you are beautiful!

ReplyDeleteYou never fail to have style, even in the ICU!! You're doing an amazing job on this blog. Others with the same condition will find strength through you and your inspirational story. Stay strong...the scary part is over. It's all uphill from here. Love you, Dawn
ReplyDeleteHoly shite! That is a visual! I am still in disbelief and also awe. You are a helluva gal! Love ya! Maggie
ReplyDeleteHi Amy, a friend of yours sent me to your Blog, and being one that has gone through this same surgery, I wanted to pass along a note of encouragement.
ReplyDeleteYou won't believe just how good you are going to feel in a weeks time. It's an amazing transformation actually, so keep on walking the good walk, I promise you, it only gets better!
I had a different style of surgery, most because I had 100% blockage of the CSF to the exterior spine. Unfortunately, it left me in severe pain, but with medications, I can usually get it down to a level 3. Because of the pain and meds I now have to take daily, I can no longer work, so trust me, you are in a great spot :) Just don't push your recovery too quickly!
I wish I had known about you going into surgery sooner, I'd have given you a heads up on what to expect. As for me, I threw up on one of my Doctors the morning of Surgery :) Yeah, it's a pretty heavy Surgery as we both know. I always said that if I hadn't had someone drive me to the Hospital, I probably would have left before Surgery :)
Well, my prayers are with you and your family. Don't do a lot, just relax and get better. Soon enough you'll be able to get back to where you were before this nightmare started :)
Hi Amy,
ReplyDeleteI worked for Roth in the Minneapolis area until last July when the bastards fired me.
We didn't get to know each other very well, but I want you to know you are in my prayers. I also have you on a couple of prayer lines.
Hang in there--stay strong. Your babies and husband need you.
God Bless---

You rock the animal print. I am sure the girls have matching slippers too. That scar is something to be proud of. I am sure it will fade.I know you have a great stylist who can come up with a super transitional hair cut for you ( its grows fast ) I am so happy your on the mend and so fast too.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm continuing to pray for you. The picture is an amazing testiment to what you've been through! Didn't bother this stomach in the least (us medical professionals love pics like these!). I admire your strength in getting through this and hope that each day is an improvement for you. Keep up the faith, take each day as it comes and use your precious little girls for inspiration to get through all of this. Take care!

p.s. Dawn gave me the link to your blog and I've shared it with some of my neighbors who know you from Pitt State. They are all praying for you, too!
Sending thoughts and prayers of a quick recovery your way. I hope the pain becomes more manageable very quickly! Best wishes - Gina Kaberline (Ferguson)
